About our Intensive Intervention Program

Our Intensive Intervention Program & Goals

Milestones’ Intensive Intervention program provides highly structured individual therapy to boost a child’s skills. Our program is comprehensive and unique because our talented therapists focus on goals in multiple areas of development including:

  • Language (speaking, listening, and general communication)
  • Social Skills (interacting)
  • Nonverbal Cues (such as eye contact, body posture, tone of voice, and gestures)
  • Play Skills (playing with toys appropriately)
  • Impulse Control (knowing when to and when not to do things)
  • Positive Behavior (following directions and abstaining from inappropriate behavior)
  • Home Skills (such as dressing, feeding, sitting at the table, toileting, etc.)
  • Sensory Regulation (modulating one’s responses to environmental stimulation such as sound, taste, sight, touch, and movement)

The Process

  • When children first enter our program, they undergo a developmental evaluation so we can determine where the child’s current skills are, where they should be, and a concrete treatment plan for how to get there. From the moment our staff member arrives with their overflowing toy bags, children have big smiles on their faces and are excited to see us! All lessons are conducted under the guise of playing so children have a positive and enjoyable experience.

The Milestones Difference

  • The Milestones Difference is that we are committed to partnering with
families and agencies. We do this by keeping lines of communication open and continuously updating families or agencies about goals and progress. It is our pleasure to have parents and siblings join our sessions. By incorporating family members into sessions, children thrive.

Intensive Learning Program

  • Our Intensive Learning Program works in conjunction with the student’s Early Intervention or School Team and places a strong emphasis on parent training and collaboration between agencies. To achieve maximum effectiveness, we have an “open-door” policy for families and
other team members to participate in any or all of the sessions.
