Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be present for my child's session?

If your child is seen at our office, you may drop your child off for
therapy. If we see your child in any other location, an adult (at least 18 years old) needs to be present in the general location of where your child is receiving services. We encourage family involvement, but unless your service calls specifically for parent training, it is your choice to participate.

Where are my child's services provided

At our state-of-the-art therapy center, your home, or your child’s school, early intervention center, day care, or other community setting. At our center children have the added benefit of interacting with other kids and can also practice pre-school skills at our mock-school.

What is the minimum/maximum amount of therapy my child can receive each week?

The minimum is 2 hours (if child is over 3) and 5 hours (if the child is under 3); this is per state regulations. Maximum is 48 hours of therapy per week.

Are parents involved in therapy?

With our open door policy, we welcome families to be involved in their child’s session. We value the parent/child relationship while understanding some parent’s time constraints. We provide the opportunity for parents to participate in sessions, confer with our Intervention Specialists and their supervisors, and receive information about their child’s disorder and treatment options. Parents are involved in every step of the way and have a choice of their level of participation.

Who supervises my child's program?

Each child is assigned a Therapist, Supervisor, and Program Director. The Supervisor will visit your home from 1-2 times per month (depending upon the number of hours your child receives). Your child's programs and progress are also reviewed weekly at a clinical meeting and monthly by your child's Regional Education Coordinator.

How is progress measured?

Progress is measured each time we provide therapy in the form of data collection and monthly developmental evaluations. Each child has a web-based program book which is updated monthly and includes progress from the month, current goals, future goals, and data graphs. This is a password protected and secure website that only you (and if someone else is paying for your child's services, such as your Special Education Director or EI Program Coordinator) have access to.

What are our staffs' qualifications?

The majority of our staff have either an undergraduate or graduate degree in Education, Psychology, or related fields. All staff are overseen by two directors (one who specializes in child-centered methods and the other who is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Each staff member under goes 120-160 hours of training, depending upon the level of experience they already have, and receive ongoing training and supervision each week.
